Backside John Guthrie 2008 30" x 22"
$1,400 John Guthrie reflects on the idea of “Fetish”, in its religious and erotic connotations. The paintings present abstracted shapes that might be read as objects of reverence from a mysterious tribe, or alternately as stylized depictions of the human form. Each successive work in the series has sprung from the one before, giving the work a sense of continuity and evolution. John’s deft use of watercolours and his uncanny sense of composition make these works bold and memorable. Backside is a watercolour work on (archival) paper with distressed edging. The black background shown in the photo is not part of the piece.
